Eating Disorder Center of Montana

Finding a void of eating disorder–specific options in the state of Montana, Jeni Gochin co-founded the Eating Disorder Center of Montana (EDCMT) in July 2013. The EDCMT provides judgment-free individual and family therapy, group therapy, nutrition counseling, and medical and psychiatric support through highly specialized outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. The newly renovated Voss Inn in downtown Bozeman, Montana now houses the partial hospitalization program where patients participate in structured, holistic services such as vitals checks with nurses; individual and group therapy; and yoga, art, and music therapies.

Gochin bought the historic Voss Inn in June 2018, knowing it was the right place to “create a light-filled space that’s healing and can help people transform their lives.” Gochin attended Prospera’s Power Up class to develop her business plan to expand the EDCMT and fulfill her vision of renovating the Voss Inn. To transition the 1880s mansion previously used as a bed and breakfast into a viable facility, Gochin obtained Revolving loan Funds from Prospera. These loans supported the renovation of the house to be adapted for accessibility, including adding a wheelchair ramp and an accessible kitchen and bathroom. The EDCMT opened its new space to patients in July 2019.

Of her work with Prospera, Gochin said, “At a time when I thought, ‘I’m giving up, I’m depressed, this is hard,’ They really helped me trust myself. I just needed a little push, and I think they gave the right amount of nudge.”
